Form 11 Investment Income: An Irish Investor Checklist
Organise Irish and foreign investment income, fund events, and capital gains for Form 11 review without treating year-specific fields as permanent.

Important: Not every investor files Form 11. Depending on your self-assessment status and non-PAYE income, Form 12, CG1, or another route may apply. Revenue changes forms, panels, field numbers, and online deadlines by year, so always use the current form and helpsheet.
Investment records span several parts of the return
The current Form 11 separates Irish Other Income, Foreign Income, offshore products, and Capital Gains. Interest, dividends, fund chargeable events, and ordinary disposals should not be collapsed into one investment-income total.
Withholding and tax already deducted also need their own evidence. A broker's summary may use different labels or accounting conventions from Revenue's return.
A year-end reconciliation checklist
- Confirm whether Form 11 is the correct return for your circumstances and tax year.
- Reconcile gross Irish interest and DIRT deducted separately from foreign deposit interest.
- Separate Irish and foreign dividends, withholding, fund distributions, and other income.
- Reconcile ordinary CGT disposals, allowable losses, payments already made, and fund chargeable events.
- Check that all brokers, wallets, manual entries, and earlier cost-basis records are included before using annual totals.
How Irish Investor helps
Irish Investor organises supported calculations by tax year and provides a Form 11-oriented summary with labels for review. It can help trace a total back to imported or manual records, but it does not submit a return to ROS or determine every field in your personal return.
Treat field references as dated guidance. Compare them with Revenue's current Form 11 and helpsheet before filing.
Payment and filing are separate checks
Revenue's Pay and File system combines the annual return with payment of the balance due and preliminary tax, while CGT has separate payment dates during the disposal year. Do not wait for the following year's Form 11 deadline to review a current-year CGT payment obligation.
When to seek help
- Joint assessment, spouse allocations, domicile or remittance-basis questions.
- Trading activity, complex offshore funds, trusts, options, employer awards, or carried-interest arrangements.
- Material gaps between broker documents, product totals, and prior returns.
- Uncertainty about the correct return, preliminary tax, late filing, or amendment process.
