Terms of Service
Effective February 4, 2026 · Updated May 20, 2026. By using Irish Investor, you agree to these terms.
Not Tax, Financial, or Legal Advice
Irish Investor is an informational tool only. It does not constitute tax advice, financial advice, or legal advice. All calculations are for informational purposes only. You are solely responsible for verifying all calculations with a qualified professional before filing tax returns. Always consult a qualified tax advisor.
Disclaimer of Liability
Statutory rights preserved. Nothing in this Agreement excludes, restricts or modifies any right you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980, the Consumer Protection Act 2007, the GDPR, or any other mandatory consumer-protection law. The implied requirements of conformity in sections 52–56 of the Consumer Rights Act 2022 apply to the Service and your remedies under sections 65–68 are available to you. This prevails over the Limitation of Liability and Indemnification clauses to the extent of any inconsistency.
Scope of the Service. The Service is a general-purpose Irish income-tax estimation tool, intended to support preliminary planning. We recommend you verify any material figure against Revenue's online services (myAccount / ROS) or a qualified tax adviser before relying on it for a Revenue return.
No professional advice. We do not act as your tax agent within the meaning of Part 41A of the Taxes Consolidation Act 1997 and the Service does not constitute regulated financial, legal, or accountancy advice.
Free Mode & Optional Support
Current status: Free tier active — paid checkout is not enabled
Irish Investor is currently provided free of charge while Free Mode is active, and paid checkout is disabled. Ordinary use during Free Mode does not create a paid commercial services contract. These Terms still govern access to and use of the Service, including acceptable use, data handling, disclaimers, and liability limits.
Voluntary support via Ko-fi (ko-fi.com/irish_investor) is a third-party donation platform. Any optional contribution unlocks no features and is not a payment for services under these Terms.
Current access: all currently available product features are accessible without a card payment while Free Mode remains active. Access can still be limited for abuse prevention, security, maintenance, or account termination under these Terms.
If paid access is reintroduced: this section will be reviewed and updated before checkout is made available. The Last Updated date above will change, and material changes will be notified under the Modifications clause.
Payment processor: Stripe payment code and records may remain in the application for historical audit and future reactivation readiness, but no new card checkout is offered while Free Mode is active.
Your Data
You retain full ownership of all data you upload. We grant ourselves a limited license to process your data solely for providing the Service. This license terminates when you delete your account.
Data Retention
Eligible personal data is deleted within 30 days of account closure. Certain records are retained for 6 years per Irish Revenue rules (Taxes Consolidation Act 1997, section 886), including payment records, purchase history, and investment transactions that supported filed tax calculations.
Service Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for service interruptions or data loss. Always maintain your own backups via Settings → Account → Your Data. Encrypted server-side backups are retained 90 days for disaster recovery, then purged.
Limitation of Liability
Unlimited liability. Nothing limits our liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) non-conformity under sections 52–56 of the Consumer Rights Act 2022 or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited under Irish law; (d) compensation under Article 82 GDPR.
Capped liability. Subject to the above, our total aggregate liability is limited to the greater of (a) €500, or (b) three (3) times the fees you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Indirect loss. We are not liable for loss that was not within the reasonable contemplation of both parties at the time this Agreement was made (the second limb of Hadley v Baxendale), subject to your non-excludable statutory rights.
Notice. You agree to notify us in writing within 90 days of discovering any facts that could give rise to a claim, so we can investigate and mitigate. Failure to notify does not bar a claim but may reduce recoverable damages to the extent the delay caused avoidable loss.
Indemnification
Subject to the statutory-rights-preservation clause above and to the extent permitted by Irish consumer law, you agree to indemnify Irish Investor from claims arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or violation of any law or third-party rights.
Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. The courts of Ireland have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in an EU Member State other than Ireland, nothing in this clause deprives you of the protection afforded by Articles 17–19 of Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012 (Brussels I Recast) or Article 6(2) of Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 (Rome I).
